Throughout this long and challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic Archbishop Riordan and the West Catholic Athletic League have remained committed to providing as many student-athletes as possible an opportunity to participate in athletic activities with the hope to eventually be able to have official competitions of some kind in a safe and productive manner during this school year.
With that in mind, the WCAL, in accordance with the Central Coast Section, has released an updated athletic calendar for the remainder of the 2020-2021 year.
The WCAL’s official breakdown of the updated start and end dates for each sport, along with dates by which decisions will be made on if a sport’s season will have to be canceled, can be found on the WCAL website. All decisions on when sports can officially compete are tied to the California Department of Public Health guidelines for youth and high school sports, which can be found here.
Please note that Archbishop Riordan will be setting our own start dates for official practice around this WCAL calendar and not all sports will start official practice on the date listed by the WCAL. Information will be going out to our school community regarding Archbishop Riordan’s official start dates for specific sports once they are finalized.
In preparation for official sports practices, if an Archbishop Riordan student has not done so already, please register on SportsNet and upload your Medical Clearance Form. Instructions on how to register on SportsNet, along with needed links and documents for medical clearance, can be found on our website under Medical Clearance.
